A beautiful silver ring from Mauritania or Morocco. It is decorated with wonderful silver granulation and a slice of an old Murano glass -chevron- bead. This kind of ring is quite characteristic of the area of Goulimine in Southern Morocco and Mauritania. In fact, sometimes this sort of arrangement and the way the slice of bead is used is referred to as -gem- or -pearl- from Goulimine. These beads were very much valued in Africa since the XVIth century and were used as trade beads.
