Berber hanbel Oued Zem vintage

An artisan handmade flatwoven vintage rug or -hanbel- from Oued Zem in the region of Chaouia in Morocco. Wool and cotton. This pieces is outstanding for its beautiful decorative motifs, its incredibly rich colours and the wonderful apparente chaos particularly in the central part. The vast variety of horizontal and vertical decorative motifs used evidences the amazingly rich Berber symbology combining male, female and life elements. Very decorative and a true piece of art.
