A lovely old silver ring with nine small set turquoises and coral beads. Its shape and design clearly recalls of the Bedouin rings from Oman and other areas of the Arabian Peninsula. The Kuchi nomads (of Pasthun ethnicity) cross the vast territory that goes from Iran to India, so their creations are always rich fusions of different styles. Unique.

A beautiful and rare antique silver ring from Afghanistan. Its singularity lies in the ancient so-called Gabri glass bead in the central cabochon that would have usually had a stone attached.

The Gabri glass beads are from the Islamic period, that is, between the 8th and 12th centuries. Produced in the Middle East and spread through Central Asia with the expansion of Islam.

A spectacular old silver and carnelian ring. Features a precious filigree square base that could very well have been a Zar ring from Oman. The cabochon houses a precious agate carnelian stone bead held by a silver rod. The Zar rings from Oman protect against the evil one (Jinns) and are used in the exorcism ceremonies. An old Tuareg silver and agate ring. This type of ring is worn by those who have been to Mecca on pilgrimage (hadji). Stones such as agate are believed among the Tuareg to afford protection to its owner. Lovely patina. The Tuareg are a nomadic Berber (amazigh) group that lives in the Sahara Desert.

An old Afghan silver and turquoise ring.

A beautiful silver and turquoise ring from Afghanistan, possibly from a group of Turkoman origin. The setting shows a minute and lovely silverwork including charming depiction of a bird. The rosette of tiny turquoise cabochons adds a lively touch.

Old Fulani silver ring. Decorated with a quite characteristic simple engraving design from this ethnic group. For the making of this sort of pieces the Fulani usually use the -lost-wax- casting tecnique as a first stage to subsequently continue to forge the piece. This kind of ring would ocassionally be also used as a head ormanent braided or tied to the hair. Very nice patina. The Fulani people, also known as Fula, Peul or Fulbe, among other, are an ethnic group that inhabits many countries, mainly in Western Africa, Mauritania and Mali. They are probably the largest nomadic group in the world. Mid-XXth century.
