    A simply wonderful old silver and enamel Afghani or Persian -mirror- ring. It is made of silver and beautifully enameled in blue and red. It features a big multi-faceted cabochon made of mirror. This ring is traditionally used in the wedding ceremonies so that the bride may see the bridegroom without staring directly into his eyes. Mid-XXth century.

    An old Fulani silver ring of a most original design that includes the shape of an eye and spiral and granulated decoration. That decoration is meant to protect the wearer and it also quite possibly refers to fertility. The spiral decoration has some resemblance with the like motif used by the Berber as a symbol of the life cicle. Great patina. The Fulani people, also known as Fula, Peul or Fulbe, among other, are an ethnic nomadic group that inhabits many countries, mainly in Western Africa, Mauritania and Mali. Mid-XXth century.
