Old Fulani silver ring. Decorated with a quite characteristic simple engraving design from this ethnic group. For the making of this sort of pieces the Fulani usually use the -lost-wax- casting tecnique as a first stage to subsequently continue to forge the piece. This kind of ring would ocassionally be also used as a head ormanent braided or tied to the hair. Very nice patina. The Fulani people, also known as Fula, Peul or Fulbe, among other, are an ethnic group that inhabits many countries, mainly in Western Africa, Mauritania and Mali. They are probably the largest nomadic group in the world. Mid-XXth century.

Price €98.00MA0611-565A beautiful silver ring from Mauritania. It is decorated with black enamel, wonderful silver granulation and a slice of an old six-layer Murano glass -chevron- bead. This kind of ring is quite characteristic of the area of Goulimine in Sout6hern Morocco and Mauritania. In fact, sometimes this sort of arrangement and the way the slice of bead is used is referred to as -gem- or -pearl- from Goulimine. These beads were very much valued in Africa since the XVIth century and were used as trade beads. Mid-XXth century or earlier.

A superb Berber old silver and agate ring from Morocco. The central agate, as an -eye-, affords protection to the werer of the ring. The way the stone is set by four prongs symbolizes the four directions. The agata, among the Berbers, is believed to have prophylactic powers. Nice patina. Mid-XXth century.
